Top 15 Players
15.) The Piggies (Hybrid Theory)
Pinnheadlarry- Piggies has come back after being out of the AGLA for almost two years. Piggies is a play making role player who sets her team up to do some nasty things. She’s a solid Hybrid and is a top defender in. I think she needs to adjust a little more to the Halo 5 play style so she’s riding heavily on her experience and awareness which has taken her this far in Halo 5 already. Once she gets all the naqs down of Halo 5 she can become one deadly player this season.
The Piggies- I’m clearly the greatest. OkayBye
Rage More Nerd- Piggies – No one gives Piggies less credit than herself, ignore everything she says about being garbage, she’s a winner and will find a way to compliment her team. She can do a little bit of everything and there are few players more adept to passing. She knows what it takes to win games and that’s why she’s here.
Biggest Strengths: Passing, High Grifball IQ
14.) About73Puppies (Pro Run)
Pinnheadlarry24- Puppies is one of the most underrated players in the leagues. Puppies skills as runner have improved and is slowly transitioning into a running defender this season as he leads in carrier kills on the season and is starting to run for his team. Tank Puppies is Runner Puppies now and Runner Puppies is Tank Puppies now.
The Piggies- Tank Puppies is an ironic misnomer for the player that this guy has become in Halo 5. He’s not just a tank in this game, he’s a playmaker, a defender, a push tank; basically he’s capable of filling in wherever a team may need him. Puppies is identical to Ezy in that he anchors Pro Run but it’s not as obvious as the way Digital serves as an anchor. Puppies’ sword is one of the best in the leagues easily, and his play making and decision making all around the court is impressive. Not to knock on Pro Run any, but I think if you take Puppies and put him on any other team in the pro league, he moves higher up on this list. In short, Puppies’ is the type of player that can do it all. He’s mastered the mechanics of Halo 5, especially the smart link on the sword, and he can give his team a play-making edge that would directly result in wins. While I think Puppies’ potential to be a Hall of Fame contender is there, I still need some convincing from him.
Rage More Nerd- I’m not sure we can call him Tank Puppies anymore, he’s gone full blown Nuclear Taco on us and is showing the league the potential of the sword in Halo 5. He’s become very comfortable with the ball and already known as a proven tank, there is a potential superstar in the making here.
Biggest Strengths: Versatility with the Sword
13.) Ezy (Hybrid Theory)
Pinnheadlarry24- Ezy is a solid runner and despite not practicing is still a top player in the leagues. Ezy isn’t really the same runner as he used to be but is still a good hybrid. It’s funny that he just makes these lists every time but at this point really doesn’t care which is priceless. If Ezy cared i gaurentee you he would be in the top 10 players this season.
The Piggies- If you’ve ever had the enormous pleasure of sitting in an Xbox party with Ezy oh Great, you’ll know that his favorite two things in life are generating a supply of delightful quotes (mostly about Gingy these days) and the PC master race. While Grifball may no longer be at the top of Ezy’s to-do list, his play on the court is still one of the best around. Ezy doesn’t drop mass positive numbers in Halo 5 like he would in Halo 4, but his playmaking abilities are still very much alive and being on his team I can tell you that he anchors us just as much as Gingy does, but he does so more on the defensive side of the court. If I die on defense, I always quickly switch to Ezy’s perspective to know what the outcome of the play is going to be. Ezy’s also seemed to transition away from being a star runner in Halo 5, not to say that his running isn’t as good as ever but he’s recognized the fact that he has to do more than just run the bomb to carry Hybrid Theory’s lazy butts to any success this season. While Ezy is easily the best play maker on our team, he really does practice the least out of any of us, and that’s a huge nod to his skill on the Grifball courts. Despite all of this, it’s difficult for me to say Ezy will be a Hall of Fame contender. In Halo 4, he was consistently in the top 5 of everyone’s list. With some practice, Ezy could be a shoe-in for Hall
Rage More Nerd – “Turning nothing into something” This sums up Ezy pretty well, you may think you have him cornered but don’t be surprised when he finds a way to take you out and put his team in a position to score. He’s become more and more tank heavy over the years and I’m ok simply calling him a playmaker because calling him a hybrid doesn’t do him justice, he is still deadliest with the ball in his hands.
Biggest Strengths: Running, Playmaking
12.) Tonga (Impulse)
Pinnheadlarry24- Tonga is a one dimensional player in my opinion but no one really sees it due to him being a runner and you usually associate one dimensional players to tanks. Don’t get the wrong idea he still is a fantastic runner though and has some pretty good defensive qualities. Tonga is a pure runner and is still the best coach in the leagues right now as he runs the floor like a general and gets every single one of his players involved in every play offensively and defensively. He knows what he want out of his team and is able to turn his ideas into reality on the court. Tonga kind of regressed do to him being busy, but I’m hoping he’ll bounce back cause he’s one talented Halo 5 player and overall has been the best runner sin
The Piggies- Nobody is associated more with the title of runner than Kid Tonga. Having been one of the only two true dedicated runners in Halo 4 (shout out to Crusader), Tonga maintains this title through Halo 5. While he’s been showing some fatigue as of late, he still hasn’t fallen too far behind. I think more so in Halo 5 than any other game, it takes a lot of skill and Grifball IQ to not play consistently and still be able to compete at the highest level, and yet that’s exactly what Tonga does. I honestly think Tonga is unique in his running style. I can’t comfortably label it as offensive or defensive because really he’s fairly good at both. One other thing to note is that Tonga utilizes the map, or more specifically the wall hop, better than any other runner in the league. In combination with the dash mechanics, I’ve seen Tonga make some crazy good plays for Impulse this season. As seems to be the pattern in the lower half of the top 15 players, it’s hard for me to say Tonga will be a Hall of Fame contender. I think we need to see a bit more of what Tonga can do before I’m comfortable saying he’s going to be competing for a spot in the Halo 5 Hall of Fame.
Rage More Nerd- The king of ball possession, trying to get the ball from Tonga is among the most difficult challenges for any team and your only real hope is to take out his team instead because he’s not going to die with it in his hands. He can turn nothing into scores and will abuse players without awareness. Seeing him below Ougy and Pinnhead is somewhat surprising because Tonga has been the only person keeping the runner position alive so he’s prolly going to do something about this.
Biggest Strengths: Running, Maintaining Possession
11.) Ouglaf (Vital Signs)
Pinnheadlarry24- This year I’m implementing a new award which is the “Most Improved Player of the Season Award”. This man went from being a drop off to a top three runner in the league in one season. Ouglaf can punch better than anybody with the ball and has perfected the timing and is the true difference maker for Vital Signs. Ouglaf off ball is pretty impressive as well as you don’t expect him to be that good of a tank cause he’s usually running 95% of the time. I think playing with Nets is going to make him a better player after this season.
The Piggies- Ougalf finally found his calling in Halo 5, and that calling would be punching every single smart link sword in the face. Nobody is better at getting defensive bomb punches in this league than Ougy. Being Vital Signs’ star runner would be easy you’d think, since he is running behind the likes of Rain and Nets, however how many times have we seen him punch a Galvy sword or a Larry sword when caught in dee corner? This man is the only person in the league that can have swords smart linking him in succession and he’ll have no problem punching all of them. There have been quite a few times Ouglaf has made an incredible individual effort when Vital Signs’ tanking line has collapsed which has led to them maintaining the bomb-possession edge over any team, and I really credit Ouglaf for the reason it’s so hard to get the bomb off Vital Signs. In addition to excellent running, he’s actually an extremely good tank. We just don’t get to see that a lot since Ougy is on such a tank heavy team. Ouglaf is in a similar boat as Larry, and it’s just too early in Halo 5’s lifespan for me to say that Ougy will be a Hall of Fame contender.
Rage More Nerd- Remember when everyone thought the sword was OP? Ouglaf took that idea and threw it straight into the Trashpass. The punches this man gets are insane, the number of times he has saved goals with a ridiculous punch is too high to count and we’re only halfway through the season. He’s got the fist of the heavens and he is not afraid to use it.
Biggest Strengths: Running, Punching, Sword Lunges
10.) Sab (One Hit Wonders)
Pinnheadlarry24- Sab is a beast of a player and is very underrated. Sab is a super balanced player and doesn’t matter what situation he is in he is able to stay consistent and play well. Sab makes most of his “money” on defense where most of his goals come from him making a defensive play and just running that s&%$ in. Sab in my opinion is the most underrated player in the league. Not to mention he has provided some of the best piece of dialogue this season.
*Sab sitting quietly in the party minding his own business*
“OH MY GOD SAB SHUT THE F#@% UP”- Me
“WHAT the f&*% Pinnhead i wasn’t even saying anything, this why i hate you”- Sab
“Oh shit i didn’t know you hated me LOL”- Me
“Thought i made it obvious”- Sab
The Piggies- I’m pretty sure Sab’s Xbox gamer picture is a picture of a LoL player, so knowing where his priorities lie but still seeing him at number 9 is pretty impressive. Sab is maybe the only player in the pro league outside of Ezy who literally never gets on outside of league games, yet he is still performing as a slightly less better version of his Halo 4 self, which it doesn’t sound like it but is actually a huge compliment. Sab’s always been a play maker, and he brings that with him to the Halo 5 courts. His hammer is really good still but I’ll give his sword the edge, as I’ve seen him pick up quite a few chain lunges to force turnovers, more so than your average pro player. If Sab actually cared, he’d most likely be competing for a top 5 spot. With the same mentality, it’s hard for me to say Sab will be a Halo 5 Hall of Fame contender without slightly more effort on his part.
Rage More Nerd- Sab – Sab is a no nonsense defensive juggernaut, he doesn’t need to do anything fancy and he will punish you for trying anything on him. Trying to punch Sab is the biggest mistake a runner can make, hammer or sword, Sab is gonna kill you. Sab doesn’t get big stats or carry teams with his hammer, but you can count on him being the anchor to any defense.
Biggest Strengths: Defense, Positioning
9.) Pinnheadlarry24 (One Hit Wonders)
Pinnheadlarry24- I’m just an ammy kid according to Fearless
The Piggies- Larry hit the ground running in the Halo 5 scene, literally and figuratively. I’ve voiced this before but when I saw Rage drop 190 credits on Larry I really thought it was a mistake. Yet here I am eating my words while Larry is making some of the most disgusting plays that we’ve seen in Halo 5 thus far and really justifying his credit price. Larry does things that nobody else does. He is by FAR the most aggressive runner in the pro league, and somehow it works. I’m easily willing to say that Pinnhead has the best decision making as a runner in the league, especially when around the opposing team’s plate. He’s made more individually game-changing plays than any other runner in the league. His value also comes from his sword, as he’s one of the best at coming from behind or in-between a tanking line to smart link the runner and force a turn over. Overall, Larry is one of the best playmakers in the AGLA, both with and without the bomb. It’s too early in Halo 5’s lifespan for me to say with confidence that Larry will be a Halo 5 Hall of Fame contender, but I hope he makes me eat those words too.
Rage More Nerd- Pinnhead – Remember about a year ago when Tonga was the only pure runner left in Grifball? Well he’s got competition and according to this list, has been dethroned. To me, there are 3 top tier runners in the AGLA and each have their own way to play and Pinnhead’s is easily the most fun to watch. This man lives to make a fool out of players and will keep you on your toes. His sword is disgusting and he passion is undeniable. You are never as ready as you think you are when Pinnhead has the ball in front of you, he will find a way to score.
Biggest Strengths: Aggressive Running, Playmaking, Passing, Sword Lunges
8.) Rage More Nerd (One Hit Wonders)
Pinnheadlarry24- Rage is an example of a player of a player who doesn’t get crazy stats but is still one of the top players in the league. Rage lets the game come to him and adapts his play style to the situation that is being presented to him on the court. Rage has great defensive ability and is able to make plays happen more on the defensive end than offensive end which is trait very few players possess. Rage is a defensive heavy hybrid and is able to make plays out of nowhere and he makes you think as a player what kind of mindset he’s in at that current moment.
The Piggies- After quite some time, “Rage makes plays” can actually be said without being laughed off. Rage has FINALLY decided to go back to playing as his old passive self, and his teams are being rewarded for that heavily. Rage is the best anchor in the league, and without Rage One Hit Wonders would not be playing as dominantly as they are because it is his staying alive, his mid court tanking performance, and his defensive hammer tanking that enables this team to do what they are doing – destroying. Rage is the best of both worlds in that he can stay alive with his hammer or make crazy plays with his sword and to further justify his high placing on this list, Rage clearly has the awareness and understanding to know what he needs to be doing for his team, and truly he is executing his anchor role better than anybody else in the league. If Rage can remain consistent in his dominant playstyle for the lifespan of Halo 5, Rage will be a Hall of Fame contender.
Rage More Nerd- These lists are all garbage, I’m #1. Nah seriously though, I play great defense, I love passing, and I’m a pretty good tank sometimes.
Biggest Strengths: Defense, Playmaking, Passing
7.) Nets Pride (Vital Signs)
Pinnheadlarry24- Nets is the king of getting the right kills, Nets won’t slay up and down the court but will get kills when it matters on both ends of the plate. Despite being an incompetent c#@$ in customs he is a top hybrid in the league. Nets defensively is one of the best and is able to get those crazy hammer lunges outta no where that from personally experience makes you call him some unfavorable names and wishing unfortunate events upon him cause they really do just come out of nowhere.
The Piggies- Verizon FiOS’ very own poster child, it’s not a shock that Nets makes his appearance in the top 10 players at number 7, even when you consider how little time he spends in customs these days. Nets’ most prominent strengths are his awareness and his ability to make plays all around the court. Nets is most similar to Ace than anyone else on this list in regard to his decision making and his ability to execute his decisions. Where Nets’ truly shines though is on either end of the court. His near-the-plate decisions are most assuredly one of the best in the leagues, especially his push-tanking when tanking offensively at your goal-line – too many times have I looked at a kill feed right before Vital Sign’s has scored the bomb and all I see is Net’s has picked up 2-3 kills in a row. There is no doubt in my mind that Nets will be a Halo 5 Hall of Fame contender.
Rage More Nerd- The definition of a Hybrid, there’s no holes in a team when Nets is on the roster and every other team has a hole when Nets decides to make a fool of someone. If there’s one thing Nets does better than anyone, it’s apply pressure with the ball. This man is so scary on the wall hop and will distract you and make life for his tanks so much easier, do not let him get the ball on your back wall, he will have you spinning in circles.
Biggest Strengths: Positioning, Defense, Passing, Playmaking
6.) Gingy (Hybrid Theory)
Pinnheadlarry24- Gingy is the king of holding forward but unlike garbage kids who do this all the time he is actually good at this and plays this kind of passive holding forward play style which oddly enough gets him tons of kills. Gingy is the second best slayer in the league and is an offensive juggernaut as he pushes like no other. Still in my opinion the funnest player to play against as he’s an aggressive lad that always keeps you on your P’s and Q’s as he’s constantly in your face on the court.
The Piggies- The greatest runner to ever grace Halo 5….wait no, one of the greatest tanks to ever play Grifball, Gingy being in the top 10 shocks literally nobody. Despite little commitment to practicing, despite the fact that nobody who made this list has really even played with him in Halo 5 recently, he is still in the top 10 of the best of the best. That’s a testament to Gingy’s skill and abilities to turn up with his hammer and still go positive and give his teams the tanking edge they need to put up the W’s. If Gingy really wanted to I have no doubt he could be as good as Rain, if not better. His timing is still incredibly clean, and his patience is heavily rewarded by the no slide game type on Halo 5. Gingy is the tanking and staying alive anchor for any team he decides to bless with his presence. I feel it doesn’t need to be said, but Gingy will be a Hall of Fame contender.
Rage More Nerd – Just behind Rain in regards to being one of the best pure tanks in Grifball, Gingy is simply a more aggressive version of Rain. Rain will let you think you have a chance and take you down as soon as you move towards him, Gingy is just gonna run you over. He’s not putting up with you if you try to dance with him, unless you play it perfect he will sneak in the kill on you.
Biggest Strengths: Tanking
5.) Digital Pain (Pro Run)
Pinnheadlarry24- At the beginning of Halo 5 this guy was trash bags, it wasn’t until the start of this season where that all changed and he shot up in everyone’s lists. Digital is the smartest tank in Grifball and is a super passive tank. Digital isn’t easy to fool and trick into making mistakes and is like a brick wall on defense as he plays DAT respectful D. Digital is an elite player non the less and hopefully he keeps playing in Halo 5.
The Piggies- It took a minute for him to learn the mechanics but Digital’s back to his unkillable, frustratingly patient self, which is bad news for anyone not on his team. You could easily argue that Digital’s Grifball IQ is up there with Ace’s as his ability to adapt to a person’s playstyle is almost unmatched. He’s one of the few people in the leagues that can learn how someone plays within one league game, and quickly make the needed adjustments to give his team the edge. Not only is he aware of what you’re doing when against him, but he can also call out what his teammates are doing wrong in any given situation, something that I think is pretty unique in this league as not many people have that level of heightened awareness. If Digital chooses to play in the leagues throughout Halo 5’s lifetime, he’ll be a Hall of Fame contender.
Rage More Nerd- This looks familiar, Dig is one of the smartest tanks in Grifball and will let you know that you’re not as good as you think you are. If you are any bit predictable, Dig will recognize it and that’s when you’re screwed. Few players can learn opposing players as fast as Dig and when he gets going, he’s dominant.
Biggest Strengths: Tanking, High Grifball IQ
4.) TariqmacpotV4 (Next Dimension)
Pinnheadlarry24- Tariq is probably one of my favorite teammates of all time as his personality mix with his playing ability makes him so fun to play with and against. Tariq is a top anchor tank in the AGLA and is able to stay alive and hold pushes for his team, Tariq for allot of players is the hardest player to kill in the league, Tariq knows when to push and is super passive until he needs to be ultra aggressive on plate. Tariq has allot of play making ability and is able to pull off some pretty crazy plays that benefit his teams.
The Piggies- As Man Cannon put it, “three Halo’s later and it’s Tariq’s time to shine”. All jokes aside, Tariq is the master of Halo 5 mechanics. I think out of anyone on this list, he utilizes the dash (and slide when it’s there) better than anyone else in the leagues. He’s one of the few people other than his captain duo that I’ve seen use the dash aggressively while hammer dancing and be successful (he does that jump backwards while you swing and then dash forward for the kill thing), not to mention he probably flowers with the bomb more than anyone else I’ve seen. With the dash he’s great at juking people so his running is actually really excellent these days; back when the game came out he refused to pick up the bomb. Now he’s getting disgusting ninjas on Rain while he’s running. Excellent awareness and tanking on both ends of the field rounds out Tariq’s skill and is one of the reasons him and Galvy are the only captain duo that are both in the Top 5 players in the AGLA. Tariq will most definitely be a Hall of Fame contender.
Rage More Nerd- Speaking of emerging Superstars, Tariq is right there with Galv at the top. Just like Galv led Impulse to a Championship, Tariq led Next Dimension to the Championship series and continues to improve every part of his game. He’s right up there with Ace in terms of being a complete player, I can’t find a weakness in Tariq’s game.
Biggest Strengths: Positioning, Survivability, Passing
3.) Infinite Reign (Vital Signs)
Pinnheadlarry24- Somehow since last AGLA season Rain has gotten better. Rain is second to non to the title of best slayer in the world at Grifball, Rain is just able to rip threw teams tanking lines like they’re match making kids. Rain has always been criticized for being just a one dimensional player but i would have to disagree as his defense is top tier in Halo 5, as he’s on most runner’s no punching list. If you punch this man, you better not f*&(ing miss cause he’ll make you pay for it and send you flying into that dusty ass water on that midnight map and nobody wants that. Rain these last two seasons has shown that he maybe the most dominant tank to ever exist.
The Piggies- It’s no surprise to see Rain at number three, he has the best spread in the pro league currently with a 1.41 KDA, going +151 on the season as I’m writing this. I’d be willing to bet those numbers are just going to get better. Rain knows the hammer and sword range better than anyone in the league. Not a single other person knows the timing on the Halo 5 weapons better than Rain, and that’s really why he’s so high up on this list. Before Halo 5 I would have been prepared to give him credit for only his hammer since he would rarely pull out the sword in Halo 4. This is not the case now however, as Rain has proven himself skilled with both weapons. His running has even improved in Halo 5, and he’s arguably one of the best aggressive runners in the game. Look for him to remain in at least the top 5 AGLA players through the lifespan of Halo 5. For the first time in his career, Rain will be a Hall of Fame contender.
Rage More Nerd – In halo 4, the top tank was debateable, Rain, Gingy, even Snipe in the beginning of the bid league, there’s no debate in Halo 5. Rain is the best pure tank in Grifball and backs it up over and over again. Some other players on this list may have a more complete game than Rain, but his tanking is enough to overcome any weaknesses he has and he has the strongest court presence even above Ace because he applies pressure so well.
Biggest Strengths: Tanking
2.) Galvanator (Next Dimension)
Pinnheadlarry24- Galv is the closest thing to Ace we’ve seen in Halo 5. A pure definition of a hybrid and the most dominant player so far in Halo 5 as nobody has found the formula to take this man down individually. Galvs ability on the court is rage inducing and will make you wanna throw a controller at a wall. Galvanator in my opinion is the best defender in Halo 5 as he’s able to turn defense into offense in the matter of seconds, being able to trick runners into simple mistakes that lose them the game. I couldn’t talk about Galv if i didn’t bring up this man’s lunges which are just ridiculous, his lunges make me want to drink laundry detergent, he’s able to lunge people with the sword and hammer from miles away and it just makes no sense. When i played against him about two weeks ago, it came to a point where i threw the ball anytime he was looking at me with the sword, you can never be too risky against Galv and that’s why he’s number two in the world at this game.
The Piggies- Galvy is the best role filling player in the leagues. He can be your top tank or your play maker. His playstyle is aggression, something that doesn’t seem to normally pay off on the no slide game type yet here he is at #2. It makes no sense that the man can hold forward and get so many kills, yet he does, and really that is a testament to his impeccable timing. His sword is probably the best in the league, and I’ve seen him effectively sword dance with some of the best hammer tanks in Grifball – including Rain, Gingy and Ace. I’d also wager that if we were playing on the slide gametype, Galvy would easily compete for the number one spot on this list. Despite being on a passive-playstyle favoring gametype Galvinator still gets ranked at number 2, above all of the players that excel on the no-slide gametype. That says a lot about his skill and consistency. Galvinator will be a Hall of Fame contender.
Rage More Nerd- With each new version of Grifball, new superstars emerge in the leagues and Galv is definitely one of these players. Already with a Championship to his name, Galv has one of the nastiest sword lunges in this the game and can pile up kills as good as anyone. An offensive juggernaut and strong court presence, Galv is getting the attention he deserves.
Biggest Strengths: Tanking, Sword Lunges
1.) Ace B Silent (Impulse)
Pinnheadlarry- What hasn’t been said about this guy already? For all the new kids on the block, this guy has been number one on everyone’s list since 2014. I think the only list he wasn’t number one on in the last 2 to 3 years is when Digital was ranked above him. Ace is just the best player in Grifball and you don’t know how good he actually is until you have played with him or against him in league games. His average for position for this list was just one, he was number one on everyone’s list that was submitted to us.
The Piggies- Ace is a deadly combination of quick decision making and the mechanical skill and awareness to execute those decisions. Nobody in the league has decision making skills better than Ace. More so than anyone, he knows what you’re going to do before you do it, and his ability to predict people and situations is unmatched by any other player in the leagues. To put it plainly, Ace’s intuition is why he is the king, and intuition is not something that you can be taught – Ace is inherently extremely skilled. Another thing to note is unlike other players on this list, his skill transcends the game types; while slide often adds an aggression level that most pro players take a little while to adapt to, Ace is just as effective on both game types with little to no time needed to adapt. Ace if you ever decide to change your gamer tag, AdaptKing would be fitting. Ace is the only person I am 100% positive will be in the Hall of Fame (I don’t vote for HoF inductions so I can say whatever I want).
Rage More Nerd- Ace – There’s nothing I can say about Ace that hasn’t been said already, he’s ridiculous. He has mastered every aspect of this game: running, tanking, defense, passing, sword, hammer, bomb, awareness, positioning, survivability, he’s got no weakness. This man carries teams and takes over games, it will be awhile before anyone’s name is in this spot.
Biggest Strengths: Everything
Sorry this took so long didn’t expect this to be this long and hard but hey it’s out quit being a baby. Average and Jea were left out cause they’re banned so no reason to have it.
