What Grinds My Hammer – June 15, 2009

hammergrind

Do you know what grinds my hammer? You Moocow. Really? You named yourself by putting together an animal and the animal’s sound? What if I called myself “Meowcat,” or “Barkdog?” Would that be cool? No, it wouldn’t. Besides your name though, I think that the entire idea of leaving the league under a series of admins is a grave mistake.

I know, things are better run when multiple people have “power,” not only because of the spread of duties putting less stress on everyone involved, but because of the idea of checks and balances. But the problem lies in what happens when there is a disagreement amongst those admins and committees?

Normally you have a higher person who can make a final decision based on the information presented. I understand that you have things you need to do outside of Grifball, everyone does, but if you’re going to leave everything in the hands of admins and committees, we need to at least agree upon one person to have some sort of “muscle” over the others. Whether we have to have captains vote on this person at the end of each season or he is appointed by the acting commissioner before he leaves I don’t care, but when we have mass chaos in the middle of the season because of some unforeseen power issue or struggle, it’ll be grinding your hammer (or sword or bomb, we’re equal opportunity here) too.

I agree with the “muscle”. However, I do believe it the position is to be made available it should be voted upon by TC’s. I say this due to the fact that if it is MooCow’s pick it would probably be an admin. And, it that is the case there will be assloads of drama that ensue (no matter which of the admins it is). GB + Any kind of league = Drama. If the league was a cable station it would be TnT…”We know drama.”

    I is sorry.

Yea Samurai, I definitely agree with the TC’s making the decision, it’d give some sort of feeling that they had the choice and have input.

And Cow, no need to be sorry, just pointing out the possible problem that may come up with no commissioner.
