Welcome to the Pro League, Kid

First and foremost, congratulations on your leap to the Pro League. This is a huge step for you and your team. This article will touch base on a few things that are different from the Ammys. So read an enjoy!

The first difference is scheduling. With the Pro league, you actually have TWO game nights to play as an opposed set one day in the amateur league. What this means is that you (the captain) will have to set up times with the other team’s captain to schedule your game. This might sound like a daunting task but most Pro league captains take this very seriously and will work with you. It is courteous to allow people some breathing room when trying to schedule your games. If you just cannot schedule a time or cannot contact the captain via XBL, try finding their team thread over on RoosterTeeth.com and posting in there. If this is not an option or fails, talk to Adam Pisani if the problems persist. Open communication is a vital key in the Pro League.

Secondly, Neutral Host is required in all games save extreme conditions. If you rode host in the Ammys, you are in for severe shellshock. I urge you to do everything you can to practice on Neutral Host (NH) maps. Not only is not having host is a huge difference, but the current NH map is a lot different for opening launches. Take ample time for you and your team to adjust to this. There is an article on the HUB that shows a “How-To” on NH launches. You can find that article here.

Thirdly, the Pro league is hyper-competitive. There’s trash-talking, mud-slinging, people cheating, and players calling you trash if you don’t prove yourself through your games. My best advice to you in your first season, don’t say anything. Fly under the radar and just play your game. If you go out and say something you will forever be scrutinized for it much like Zero Logic for their comments for their first season (Love you guys!). All accomplishments in the amateurs mean nothing to any Pro player.

So enjoy the Pro league and be a positive influence. I hope your season goes well and you enjoy it greatly.

Good luck!

Opening launches on the new NH maps are very different from the old method. I will do my best to provide a simple video before game time on Monday.
