Sign-ups have come and gone and the divisions are out and posted. Now a 16-Team Pro league sounds great, but at what cost? In past seasons, Pro league was revered as the crème de la crème, the best of the best, something people could look up to. But now we have teams like Green Army and a three-manned Galloping Seagulls – this is not Pro.
Now of course people are going to be upset with this article. People get their panties in a wad over anyone slighting their Grifball skills in any form. But hear me out. Let’s take a deeper look into each division and team.
Mario Party (formerly Grunts of Fury)
This “powerhouse” houses names like shadow, Lord “drunk” Stanley and MooCow. These names are known, but what continuity do they have? That have already lost to team USA (albeit the game was disputed and overturned) But still, a team is not Pro by name alone. I’m sure Blade will come in here and tell ya what you can do though.
USA (Not American)
This team has two strong tanks in Digital Pain and halfbreed and has the kid who buys a staff sergeant for 60 bucks in Halo 3. Sure, this team has some good tanks, but what has that done for Dragonsblood’s team over the past few seasons? The only threat they have in their division is Mario Party.
The Galloping Seagulls
The forum banned DWaffs is back, but is having a hard time finding anyone that will stick around and play with him. I’m not even sure Amerijap plays anymore so he could just be playing with Diablo. (Btw you can’t play with only 3 people Waffs)
Zero Logic lost key players last season, but still has Nhale and the sword wonder Milk me. They also brought back some old faces in judas and Otaku plus added truthless. Zero Logic has stunned man over the past seasons with them winning the Ammy and being competitive in the Pros. I would say they don’t have any chance, but who knows with these guys.
Cool Kids Club
Thumee, Pie, Bioshocker and Doc, that is a pro lineup. Thumee will tell you that he’s going to win the ‘ship this year I’m sure. He’s going to have that rival with twizz of course, I just hope the game lives up to the amount of hype Thumee puts behind it. He got dealt a little bit of a raw deal last season and should be ready to make things right, in his eyes.
I’ll say this now, and forever, any team with Red Baron (Glasgow knight) is Pro. I pick Dragon/Baron’s team every year to do something. To at least make that ‘ship appearance, but it never happens. From the look of the roster, it looks like they are going from an insanely heavy tanking line-up to be a little more versatile. We will see if this helps them or not.
Kaz…..yeah you get the point
This team has always liked to use their names in their name. This team has names on it that people could recognize for sure, and has had past success (iirc) But they do have two tougher teams in their division.
Their name would have been fit for Pro. I hope it doesn’t backfire as Seigi will tell you him and Phil are scrubs. The team that was ammy and accepted the call to go Pro finally has a chance to show what they can do off host. Will they be stunners or suckers? That is up to them.
Thank Us Later
There will be no thanking this HEAVILY stacked team. I will crap myself when I play them and have nightmares for weeks for the atrocities that will occur on that court. That’s pretty much all I need to say about them.
Last season PO suffered a PO by turning into a forfeit factory. Power Outage has been a strong team in the past, but will they be able to turn the light bulb back on so easily. I don’t see them (or anyone) beating Thank Us Later.
How does OneHawk manage to dump (or get dumped) and reload every season. The kid has a knack for getting a team together quickly. Now let’s be honest, a lot of names on his roster are not Pro league. But hey, we needed a Pro team, and OneHawk loves playing in the pros.
More Kari Less Clothes
Surts3y insisted on being in Pro league last season, he’s got his wish now. He has pretty much the same lineup too plus the playoff addition of armyman09. We will get to see how well he does in a more watered down Pro league.
Team has some good names on it for sure. Zeg, ActiveHate, D hans and Mikinater, but will they mesh? Will Zeg be the beast he once was? Will Mikinater recover from his final appearance? I think this team obviously wins the division but not much of anything else.
Don’t Touch That Dial
Don’t know where they came up with the name aside from the old saying, but I like it. NKOT was nice enough to step up and fill out the Pro league to 16. Silky Johnson comes over from the UK league and the have TXMT, Goomba as well as Rocky. Is this a Pro team, probably not, but then again nor is the next team on this list.
BlueZebra, Pacman, AJ Cena, Dingle and Istrafety. Has some names but I’m not impressed. Probably will be second in the division (fighting with DTTD) and could possibly take first if Grifindor can’t play up to their potential.
With this being quite possibly the last season of Grifball (on Halo 3), it’s a disappointment that we didn’t have some of those old legacy teams return to flush out the Pro League. I would have loved to see some Cannonballs, SI’s, HLC, 9th Wonders and more. But alas, Grifball might go out with just a lackluster bang like it came to be.
