Top 10 Career Runners

shishka_runner1

Runners come in many different styles. Some don’t leave their back wall without making sure it’s safe to move up, other’s launch and play aggressively going for many beat-downs. Runners also are responsible for not hurting their team on defense and an added bonus if they can support the defense and get after the carrier.

At the end of the day it doesn’t matter how you score, but if you scored and these guys are the best at it.

Rank Player Name
1 Twizzter
Love him or hate him, very few can deny that Twizzter is a very good runner. Despite being more of a conservative ball runner, Twizzter knows when to take a risk and go for a stiff-arm. Since spring, Twiz has averaged 4.36 Goals per game while playing some of the best. Also, Twiz plays solid defense and doesn’t hurt his team only averaging a little over -3 a game. As if his stats weren’t enough, Twiz’s championship solidifies his spot as the number one runner of all time.
2 Spud Head
Spud has been around since the very first league and has never played anything but runner. Spud plays great defense, is good to launch, and can play extremely conservative when need be. Spud’s averages are slightly lower than Twiz’s (4.21gpg, -3..2k/d pg) and his lack of a championship keeps him out of the one spot.
3 Andrew Panton
Widely regarded as the best runner for the first couple seasons, Andrew used to have one of the best stiff arms and played solid defense, getting long sword lunges constantly. Averaging 4.94 goals per game over his long career, Andrew is towards the top of that category, and could have been higher had he played this season.
4 Nkot
At one time, Nkot had the best stiff arm in the league. Known for his aggressive ball running and solid sword defense Nkot has the ability to play conservative, although he doesn’t like to. 4.2 gpg and a championship keep Nkot in the top five.
5 Adam Pisani
He can be your hero baby, he can take away your pain. Halo Hero, LBCountry, Adam Pisani, or however you know him has been a solid runner in the league for quite some time. Although not playing as much as he once did, Adam averages the most goals per game of all the other runners on this list, averaging 5.1 per game. Adam may be the most conservative runner in the league, but he gets the job done.
6 Jedi Tiin
Tiin has been in the league for quite some time and has racked up 5 goals per game over his career. Tiin was succeeding before the Amateur League existed, so any worries of him “beating up on Ammys” should be put away.
7 Fran the Man
4.6 goals per game on solid teams is no easy achievement, especially when splitting carries with another runner on the list. Fran was knocked down a bit due to having the worst k/d per game out of almost everyone on this list at over -11 per game, potentially hurting his team on defense.
8 JayAhre
JayAhre hurts from playing in the Amateur league, however the Green Army has always played in tough divisions with some of the top teams. Racking up 109 goals in 25 games (4.36 per game) and only averaging -2 per game (best k/d of all runners on the list) clinches JayAhre a spot in the Top ten.
9 TheHolmcross
Long time HLCer, Holmcross has competed against some of the best. Despite being in the Hardest division of all time, (Division 4 SML) Holmcross has racked up 119 career goals and 3.7 per game. He has helped HLC reach the top of the polls in the Amateur League this season, as they look for their first championship.
10 Madskiledplaya
Mad and his crazy case of rtds rounds out the top ten. Mad, who never seens to die when you lunge him, averages 4.7 goals per game despite splitting carries with Fran. Banned from using his hammer in game, Mad swords his way to a list-worst -13.15 per game.

I was a damn good ball runner the one season I was on. GBWL08. #2 Runner behind AndrewPanton and he had more games then me ;] Sadly I never found a team that was committed to the game and as such I’ve gone inactive :[

    =)

I’d have to agree with Twizz in the number one spot. Obviously he’s always had a good supporting cast, which certainly helps, but he tends to play it smart waiting for lanes to develop. When he does get a little more aggressive, he seems to be pretty selective about it, rarely putting himself in a bad situation.

My opinion is of course just based on what I’ve observed when playing against him in scrims and such. I don’t believe we’ve ever faced off in a league match.

Oh, the controversy now! A Green guy over an HLCer?! That’s an insult!

    Great job, Zeg.

  5. Adam Pisani says:

I was almost ready to condemn the list because I wasn’t higher than Twizzter (for old time’s sake really, it’s hard to expect anyone to place me high with only 5 games played over the past two seasons), but then I read Jedi Tiin’s name, and all was forgiven. He’s pretty “small time” as far as public opinion goes, but I’ve loved how he carries the bomb since I first played with him in SL09 (at the time he was .1 gpg behind me).

And as much as I hate to admit it, the runners above me deserve it more than I do. The list is well put together and relatively unbiased, and I salute Zeg for it.

  6. MenZ says:

Wasn’t Spud the #2 runner behind Andrew Panton during WL08? He had the same total goals, but less games played, giving him a higher GPG. Sorry Leo, but I’m pretty sure you’re mistaken.

  7. J Nogard says:

lol… how did you find out Mad was banned from using his hammer?? lol… Although I think he ignores that ban right now… *sad face*

  8. BlueZebra says:

Consider me in the top 5 for number of scores, the highest average of scores on the first page(not sure only checked the top 10 but pretty positive), outscoring the “2nd best runner” two times in a row saying the top 10 runners should’ve been thought deeper. ;)

  9. MenZ says:

Yeah, because this wasn’t posted way back in May or anything…
