Seanzie played this past Winter season with Team HLC (Hard Liquor Chasers). HLC finished second in their division making their way into the Legacy playoffs where they were eventually eliminated by 9th Wonders in the Sweet 16.
1. How long have you been involved with the sport of Grifball?
I have been involved with the sport of Grifball since Spring league ’08
2. What kind of player are you?
I am a player who likes to have fun but at the same time am competitive! I am a defensive player who reads the field. I know what the other team is going to do while they move down the field. I also make plays myself. I have never been one to tank but am more involved communicating with my teammates.
3. If you could change one thing about Grifball or its community, what would that be?
I would love to have a test where we get to ask people questions and based on there response we can assess their maturity level and the level of intellect so that we don’t get put together with a bunch of girls(no offense to the opposite sex here) who still act like high school kids. That is what I wish would happen, course this is reality…*wakes up*
4. Is there a player/team that has inspired your style of play?
I would have to say Mike (puptastrophe) and Matt (Wolf Am I). Two good friends and close brothers. They make me try just because they are so unpredictable with there style of play. They are very good at reading and always enjoy a good sporting event. I like to think that people on my team too, who are a bunch of knuckle heads make me enjoy the sport. There are a random few others I like but this tight knit group here is what makes my style of play so much fun.
5. Name one player who always gives you fits when you play against them. What makes them so difficult?
I would have to say XC400 (A Baby Tortoise). Him and I always dance and we always clash with our hammer timing. I love his host cause I can play off it, even if he is only using one hand to play
6. Name one player you think is underrated by most. Why?
I would have to say…Blaine. He is still new relative to how long we have played, but he has some good stopping powers, and is becoming quite the runner. He is good at reading teams thoughts or maybe just mine since we are now emotionally attached after last night!*oops that wasn’t suppose to come out this early*
7. Name one player you think is overrated by most. Why?
This is probably a controversial question as most people would take offense to it, but I guess I would have to say Andrew Panton. People had chosen Marathon Runners this season to be on the top because of his amazing ball running skills. I can tell you he gets some sick lunges with the sword and some ridiculous ball punches. He does have excellent timing, but I just don’t see the same Panton that I saw back in Spring and Summer of last year. I love him and so does HLC, but I miss the old Andrew when he was a Beast to stop with the ball.
8. Besides Grifball, what other games/sports do you play?
I play soccer, I do marathons, surfing, snowboarding, skimboarding, off-road racing and road racing.
9. In your opinion, do stats matter in Grifball?
As I hinted above with question 7, I don’t think you can base a person’s abilities on stats. That is why some people with negative K/D spread are actuality better than the ones with a positive K/D spread. If a person cares about his stats too much then his best interest is obviously not with the team. He is more of an individual player rather than a team player.
10. If you could offer words of advice to rookie players, what would they be?
I would say that even though you get dogged on and made fun of, there are people out there like my man Mike here who are willing to help the newbies out and show them the ropes. It’s guys like him who have patience that can really make the game more enjoyable.
I can guarantee you that If you go out there expecting to win it all and not have fun, it won’t be that enjoyable. Have fun, teabag away and make friends, that is what Grifball to me is all about. Teabagging your teammates and taking pictures and posting them online, and doing it to the other team as well for good sportsmanship. If you’re too serious about this game your time here will be short lived, stay awhile and have a shot with us or at us!
