Dr Waffels plays for the Galloping Seagulls who this past Spring season won the Amateur League championship in 2 games of a best of three series against Team India. They completed their season with a final record of 17-0. Look for the Seagulls to make the jump to the Pro league this Summer.

1. How long have you been involved with the sport of Grifball?
Well this is my anniversary. I mean, it all started when me, Funko, Diablo, and Ray of Deth were playing Quad-splitscreen at Deth’s house. Then we saw this Grifball thing and thought it would be fun. The name came from the fact that I saw Deth’s cat “Gallop” away, and Diablo said that it looked like a seagull. Weird, I know. But I said that would be a great name, better than some gay ones like SYLaL (Shut Your Lips and Learn). But that was before I knew they would end up being the Champions. So I just made a team, and picked up some randoms without their permission. This is how Storm Warning came to be. So… yeah.

2. What kind of player are you?
I like to say that I am one of the few “runners” out there. But it all matters on what type of style my tanks around me use. I’ll dart in front of my tanks for stiff-arms, but they might end up killing me if they’re not used to it. When I’m not running, I’m obviously sword tanking. Since my connection is shitty, I just learned to sword-tank starting out because my hammer would never kill people.

3. If you could change one thing about Grifball or its community, what would that be?
The connection. No one bitches about connection more than me. Hell, just this last bum rush I booted Blue Zebra because my connection was atrocious. LAN Grifball would be fun, even neutral host every game would be an enormous help.

4. Is there a player/team that has inspired your style of play?
Inspiring my playing style? Obviously NkotB4evah and Twizzted Status. At the time they were, and still are, the best runners out there. For tanking, my style was definitely influenced by TNT Biokshocker, Alleged Hornet, BB, and SI. These are the people that taught me the game, and when my hammer failed, I learned to sword-tank. My H3P game against Anonymous was the most fun I’d ever had in a game that I lost because I got to play Alleged Hornet at my best.

5. Name one player who always gives you fits when you play against them. What makes them so difficult?
Diver Dan. I have to say I am so glad that I never had to face him in the playoffs, because even when we have host, he finds some way to cheat me out of stiff-arms. I could list dozens more players, but that would only be because they had host/leech.

6. Name one player you think is underrated by most. Why?
Amerijap. I hate chosing people on my own team, but Amerijap is just amazing. Last GB Weekend, Shadow S16 spent every game we played him chanting “Amerijaps Host, Amerijaps Host” Which honestly made us laugh. Amerijap didn’t pull host, like, at all. Granted his connection is amazing, but until the first week of spring, Amerijap didn’t pull host, yet he ran better than a host ball runner. But now he does have host so, we’ll have to see how that pans out in the regular season.

7. Name one player you think is overrated by most. Why?
xo Pie xo. He’s overrated, he’s underrated, he’s bad. He is all lag, I’m sorry. For god sakes pie, you have a highlight of me slashing you Twice in one play for the score. While he is a great player, I wouldn’t trust him on a fair connection.

8. Besides Grifball, what other games/sports do you play?
Football, Softball (I’m afraid of a baseball because I got hit WAY too much as a kid), Volleyball, Fishing, Basketball, CoDWaW

9. In your opinion, do stats matter in Grifball?
No, I’m not Redbaron. All though, with all of this tie-braker stuff, I’ll rephrase that. Stats due matter to a degree, if it means you make playoffs. I don’t wanna be screwed over like Anonymous was, we’re gaming hard this regular season.

10. If you could offer words of advice to rookie players, what would they be?
Bug the shit out of good legacy players. Honestly. That’s how I got into so many pick-up games was because I had 10 grifball friends that I spammed invites to all the time. That, and choose your sides wisely. There’s drama in Grifball.
