Hello, I’m Reyas and welcome to my reports!
Rey’s Reports are back for the new AGLA season! This is an interview-esque article called “Teammates”. Basically Teammates is an interview which requires the interviewee to answer questions with the name of somebody they have ever been on a team with, and reasons as to why. Simple enough really, I hope it makes for good reading!
Under the spotlight today we have imShad!
1. Who is the best Tank you’ve ever played with?
Given there’s more than a few different ways to tank this is a difficult question to answer. There’s those that think players who just completely obliterate the opposition in all manners using hammer the best tank, and some who measure the ability to tank on getting pushes and tank ins alone, then there’s a few who just think going hella positive makes you the best, when it doesn’t.
In terms of physically/mentally demoralizing in a complete inability to kill the other player, it’s definitely Determined. I’ve never had a player so difficult to kill in my entire career. I don’t think there’s ever been a player so 1v1 dominant, I felt like I never got him to slip up and he was just OP as a player.
Push tank alone would be Shadow S16, for obvious reasons. Like crusader said it was borderline a waiting game for him to just wait until Shadow created a push. It’s unfortunate that I wasn’t skilled enough as a player to take advantage of that when I played with him. He might drop -40 but he’ll have 5 tank ins.
In terms of both mixes I would go with Ace. Part of me wants to say snipedown(Vex Loxodrome for the new guys here) here because I have a lot of respect for him as a player but ace gets the nod here for me because of longevity.
I only played one season of ammy but I want to give a shout out to them. The simple fact is only one person can be the best in the world at something and that’s ok. I want to give some recognition to the other players who don’t get it when they should. Even if it’s against Rey’s rules. I’m going to attempt to make a mix including the ammy players that I’ve played against in scrims and customs and pregames and such.
The best ammy tank I ever played against is probably Hide Yo o Kidds. He has/had a hyper aggressive style that’s always given me fits. From season one I always felt like he had a place on a team as a third tank. He could definitely create a push here and there, but on the ammy season I played(he got benched because his captain didn’t like him, ask him about it) he was a wrecking ball.
2. Who is the best Hybrid you’ve ever played with?
I’ve had the pleasure to play with a lot of really good players with their own varying skill sets. Netspride has a very unique playstyle I haven’t really seen anyone else do, which unfortunately I didn’t really mesh excellent with when we played together. But I have a feeling that if I had more time with him, we could have been a baller duo. He’s an excellent player with a dynamic skill set I enjoyed despite our 75% chemistry level.
Shadow S16 is a true hybrid despite what I said above, he was able to do it all With few weaknesses in his game. To add to it in some of his earlier halo 3 seasons he had a solid k/d spread to add some style points to establish an early resume. While I’m sure that never really mattered to him, his history of winning can’t be denied.
However my best hybrid still remains the same from my original article, and that’s Silva. I don’t know how he’s faring in h5, but through 3 separate games he was better at almost every major aspect of the game than the other people I mentioned. Not saying that he was the best tank while being the best runner while being the best defender. He just tanked a little better, ran a little better, and did more things a little better than the other major hybrids.
Sorry not sorry but this dude has no business being an ammy. He has an excellent all around skill set, can definitely run a little(from what I’ve seen) and can hold his own with a hammer. He also has excellent pass play instincts and can set up the big play. As an amateur player I’m yet to scout a weakness in my friend’s game, he can do it all.
3. Who is the best Runner you’ve ever played with?
Being a runner myself this is the most difficult question for me because I’ve always been The guy. However there should be no surprise that Crusader is my choice here. I modeled my game after his, and while I admittedly never got to his level, I like to think I didn’t come to far. I’ve never seen a player with a running skill set as complete. He could punch, despite having a very conservative play style… but what really stuck out was the guy’s passing. I don’t need to go on and on about the stylistic offensive plays he was consistently able to produce, but an underrated facet was his defensive abilities. Crusader had a true knack for keeping possession and making sure his team kept the ball long enough to score, and while being the less flashy trait it was the one that won him more games.
Me, duh. While conceited and probably wrong, my ego tells me that I was the goat ammy. Ask InactiveSpoon.
4. Who is the best Playmaker you’ve ever played with?
This is a difficult question because there’s multiple definitions of what a playmaker can be. Obviously flash plays, things like passes and pro runs and the like obviously make a play maker. But in my opinion being able to tank over four/five straight people into the goal is making a play.
So the obvious answer here is clearly everyone that played on Watch in Awe.
This answer is probably going to be the least exciting for readers because I’m gonna go with crusader because of the reasons above. For those of you that don’t know go on YouTube and find some of Watch in Awe or One Hit Wonder’s highlight reels and you’ll understand. Crusader is my grifball man crush.
Strangely enough I’m going to go with Blade B48. I played one season with him back in halo five and he had a knack for getting a long sword launch or being in the right place the right time to open up a pass play or just generally randomly conducting isolated cases of excellence while dropping -20 every game.
5. Who is the best Defender you’ve ever played with?
This was the easiest one so far aside from runner for me because the answer is extremely clear in terms of the poop this was the easiest one so far aside from runner for me because the answer is extremely clear for Ammy and Pro.
Sabasaurus Rex was the single player in my entire Grifball career that I have never been able to figure out on a consistent basis as a runner. Probably the deadliest sword I’ve ever played against attacking the ball carrier along with excellent situational awareness and pass defense.
The only player I’ve ever struggled with in the amateur league is definitely inMotion Venom. He’s one of the few in the amateur league that’s able to play a pass defense in a manner that works against my style and for that he gets the nod here from me.
6. Who is the best overall player you’ve ever played with?
I am going to out right here and say there has never ever been a player that has been more complete in every single facet of the game than Ace. There is not a single thing this guy cannot do, he can tank, he can defend, he can run, he can pass, he can catch passes , and is seldom ever out of position on court.
7. Who is the worst overall player you’ve ever played with?
Humorously enough for as talented and good as he is now fearless five was on Uplifted and we were both pretty freaking awful. We had One of the more dynamic tanking lines in front of us in that season and neither of us could really get it done. How times have changed
Special shout out to Melvin
I know the answer to this question but it’s pointless for me to put it in because no one’s going to know who it was because it was such a long time ago. So I’ll skip this one for brevity’s sake.
8. Who is the biggest joker you’ve ever played with?
Rockys12 Because he never really took it too seriously to begin with so…. we had good times and we play together it was very interesting because he would always crack jokes about pretty much everything and make fun of us anytime we made a mistake and would make fun of Activehate for a literally every single thing throughout the game with Activehate wanted to rage quit. Rockys once trolled him into getting into an argument about whether or not a hammer jump was an effective tactic.
Pinnheadlarry as well. Most of you guys find him irritating but I get him. I don’t know how else to put it but I get who he is as a person and his sense of humor and if you can understand that he’s honestly a pleasure to be around. He has a permanent spot on my friend’s list just becuase of who he is and the fact that he makes fun of those practicing Semetic beliefs with me
Part of me wants to say Blade once again however blade didn’t really joke he just said funny things like the things he just said were humorous. He never really tried to be funny just the things he said made you laugh and the way he said them .
9. Who is the most boring player you’ve ever played with?
I’ve had the great pleasure to play with wonderful people throughout my career. While there’s some I like more than others, I can’t say I’ve ever played with someone I found boring. They all have their little quirks and personalities and something I can find interesting about all of them. I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to meet and team with the people I have.
10. Who is the most intelligent player you’ve ever played with?
I’m going to go with off court intelligence becuase I don’t want to keep talking about the same people over and over again. Grifballhub as a community has a lot of very intelligent people out there, from Goose to RDG with none really sticking out. But the cake goes to Twizzted Status for me. I only have a brief understanding of what he does, but my understanding is he works with insurance companies to mathematically analyze if someone is worth insuring. It’s very impressive
11. Who is the least intelligent player you’ve ever played with?
12. Who has the worst taste in music you’ve ever played with?
I haven’t known any of my teammates well enough to determine their music preference. I know man canon was super Into dubstep for about a year during reach but that’s about it. I usually hear pinnheadlarry blast crappy modern music sometimes.
13. Who is the biggest connection abuser you’ve ever played with?
Connection abuse is a myth. Snipedown Explain it in a very simple way. Essentially every player deals with a certain amount of lag so if a player has range against you the connection they have/their lag essentially says that they’re closer on their screen and you think them to be. So while someone might have super range against you because of the connection that they have you also have super range against that person because of where they’re located truly in terms of their connection. So while someone might have super range against you because of the connection that they have you also have super range against that person because of where they’re located truly in terms of their connection. Thus The range you have against each other is truly equal however they’re more familiar with what their range is so the range you have against each other is truly equal however there more familiar with what their range is so they appear to have range when they don’t.
That’s very difficult to put into words.
14. Who is the laggiest player you’ve ever played with?
PoisonPoptart had an awful connection there for a minute. His ascension to becoming one of the better players in this league shows that his connection held him back for a while.
15. Who is your best friend/most enjoyable who you’ve ever played with?
This is definitely my favorite question I’ve have a great pleasure to play with so many wonderful people and experience so many different personalities and play styles. However I think it comes As A surprise to no one that piggies is my favorite. Her and I very much have a personal connection as well as chemistry on court forged through many mornings of matchmaking Grifball pass practice.
I also couldn’t be happier that I got to play a season with AJ recently. I’ve known AJ for going on close to nine years now I never really got to know I’m on court and we both started when we were very young but now that we are little older and our personalities have made sure it was very much a pleasure. When he didn’t rage quit you definitely made every game very humorous and fun and lighthearted to be in.
16. Who would you never want to play with again?
EJScrips. Nothing against him but him and I got along pretty well and OK but unfortunately I feel like because the season that we played the credit value he went for was so exaggerated that we missed out on a championship season.
17. Who is the best all round gamer you’ve ever played with?
I only play like two games so I’m not sure but I’m pretty sure Tariq is good every single game he touches or at least he talks trash like he is.
18. Who is the worst all round gamer you’ve ever played with?
Melvin is awful at everything except growing a mustache.
19. Who has the weirdest voice you’ve ever played with and why?
Me. Or if that answer isn’t good enough, my voice twin Digital Pain.
20. Who is the biggest rager you’ve ever played with and why?
I haven’t really played with anyone that Rage is really bad. Although about73puppies gets upset and the most humorous way of everyone I’ve ever played with. He’ll just like talk to himself and say ” come on man come on Puppies you could you better come on” in the most gentle nonabusive way I’ve ever heard in my life like he just believes he can do better but he’s not.
