Playing grifball in the sky

gbhigh

If you’re a regular to the grifball community on the Rooster Teeth forums, chances are you may have read runNOKYARDrun’s latest cryptic post regarding a new grifball map which is built on the ground floor of Sandbox but played in the sky bubble.

Considering Nokyard is the forging mastermind who brought the league our fantastic official map which we all play our league games on and the great new Grifball Palace, it’s safe to say many were intrigued and couldn’t wait to see just what he was talking about. I’m happy to report that the wait is now over.

This past Wednesday night I was fortunate enough to be one of the first few to get the opportunity to play on Nokyard’s latest creation called GrifballHigh. It was easy to tell by the reaction of everyone in the party that we all loved the map. It didn’t take long either to find out just what Nokyard was hinting at in his cryptic message on Rooster Teeth. A quick peek at the structure of the map as you go flying over the edge thanks to a launch gone horribly wrong reveals his secret. GrifballHigh’s construction begins on the floor level of Sandbox and extends deep into space via a rather long pedestal. Perched on top of that pedestal is the grifball court. Amazing. While this is certainly not a map that will likely ever find its way into official league games, you can no doubt expect many custom games and bum rush tournaments to be played on it, as I expect that most in the community will enjoy the map just as much we did Wednesday night.

I’m guessing by now you’d like me to just stop typing and provide you with the links you need to get your hands on GrifballHigh. Well here you go, grab the official map and gametype and go have some LOLz!

Many thanks to go out to Adam Pisani (LBCountry) for putting together the great video presentation of GrifballHigh below. The time and effort which Adam puts into the grifball community is much appreciated by those of us here at the Hub.

Amazing map, interesting gameplay twists abound (and many shenanigans to be had).

I love the music! Who is it?

  3. Klammy says:

I agree with CaptainR3dbeard, who is the Artist behind the song in the video (a lot of “the’s”, lol.)

i played on this and its pretty sweet, but just wondering. wats the point of the grav lifts and kill ball randomly at the bottom of the map? lol

  5. NOKYARD says:

the gravlifts are the second part of the pedestal joke for those who happen to venture down forge, taken from my Stand Down Hallway map

if the spawns get crowded you can (rarely) spawn off the map, the killball allows you to return

Amazing map. I’ve already played a few games there, and I’m looking to start my own AM team, of course using your great maps to train on.
