This week 343 Industries has released new information about Forge in Halo 4. GrifballHub has a large Forge community that has created hundreds of Grifball maps in Halo: Reach and who are eager to try out these new tools and environments in Halo 4!
In a video overview on Gamespot, Kynan Pearson from 343 and Lori Zawada from Certain Affinity walk us through the three maps designed specifically with Forge in mind: Erosion, Impact, and Ravine.
Erosion is a subterranean map with several pre-designed zones intended to help players who are new to Forge. The map also includes the pre-built Grifball court which will be shipping with the game. Viewers can catch a few seconds of Grifball gameplay in the video below, the first Grifball gameplay footage released from a direct feed.
Impact is an outdoor space map (map, not mop) featuring UNSC pieces and both open spaces and smaller base interiors. Forgers can let their minds run wild both with using new Forge pieces and taking advantage of the interesting lighting.
Ravine is a map that we have seen previously, at the Forge introduction at RTX2012. Ravine is a large outdoor map, very similar to Reach’s Forge World. The map includes many wide-open spaces, as well as some smaller Forerunner structures.
Although Grifball in Halo 4 will first be placed on the Erosion court, we are very excited to see the hundreds of new creations our Forgers come up with using these unique Forge spaces!
