GrifballHub will be hosting three GRUNTs this upcoming week to celebrate the continuing success of Grifball!
GRUNTs are our Grifball in Reach Neighborhood Tournaments. They are one-night, single-elimination tournaments that are open to all teams, regardless of their level of experience. They last two to three hours and like their namesake aliens, GRUNTs are finished off quickly and end in a shower of confetti and cheers. GRUNTs are especially helpful for new teams looking for a chance to get accustomed to each other and to expand their Grifball friends’ list.
On Wednesday, March 30th at 9:00PM EST, we will hold the Vintage GRUNT. We’ll be playing a five-round, untimed version of Vanilla Grifball on Pinwheel. Signups will open at 9:00PM EST on Wednesday, and games will begin at 9:30. You can download the gametype here and the map here.
On Friday, April 1st at 11:00PM EST, we will play in the Forsaken GRUNT. We’ll be playing the gametype that’s too hot for matchmaking: Grifball Dash! We will be playing a version of the game with five untimed rounds on the map Cliffside. Signups will open at 11:00PM EST on Friday, and games will begin about thirty minutes later. You can download the gametype here and the map here.
Finally, on Sunday, April 3rd at 2:00PM EST, we will be trying out Smashball, Grifball’s younger cousin! Although it’s technically not Grifball, the gametype shares many of the same aspects as the Sport of the Future: An enclosed court, two teams of four players each, and lots of smashing! Interested team captains can register their teams at 2:00PM EST on the 3rd, and games of Smashball will begin at 2:30PM EST. You can download the gametype here and the map here.
Let us know if you have any questions. If you have any maps or gametypes you’d like to see in a GRUNT in the future, let us know by either leaving a comment or posting in this thread. If you’re looking for teammates for the GRUNTs, check out our forum.
See you on the court!
