Did it ever start? I’m not talking about school. I’m talking about the kind of class people exude. The dictionary defines class as “of high quality, integrity, status, or style”. Some examples are being respectful, good sportsmanship and helping each other out. Where did it all go?
The number one rule of Grifball is set to promote class. Actions have been taken when the rule has been grossly violated, but has that been enough? In the eyes of this writer, it has not. Each Grifball EXP weekend the amount of class has diminished not just from randoms, but from league members as well. I hear the good ol’ “get owned, BK!” line from league members so much. If I were not part of the league, I would not want to join the league hearing things like that.
Let us try and set an example for future rookies. Show class and say “Good game.” When in a game with below average players, do not scream “OMGWTF are you doing, you [explicative] noob!?” Instead, coach them. Sure, there’s a very a little chance they will listen. You tried, and that’s what matters. Next time some one is “trash-talking” you, do not fire back your favorite comebacks, instead, mute them. It is pointless to argue with an idiot, because in the end, they win.
This is just a guideline to start with. I challenge you to take it to the next step. Try to mimic teams like Ways and Means Committee who say good game after every game. Or Spawn Bonk!! who let a guy who’s whole team quit out on him, tie the game.
I leave you with a quote from John Madden: “Self-praise is for losers. Be a winner. Stand for something. Always have class, and be humble.”

Tex, you’re one classy guy!
<3 this article
Nice article, though I think it is not half as bad as you make it out. At least in my experiences, 90% of those comments happened in a private chat only. Though I agree it doesn’t help to promote the league, trash talking is a part of Halo to begin with.
Regardless of if it’s in private chat or not, it’s not classy.
But when I say: “your mom goes to college” I didn’t think that was bad. I am sorry! :(
Heh. Once when a guy was left alone since his other 3 teammates quit, we let him score the next 3 or 4 goals (can’t remember if we were 2-0 or 1-0). And better yet, he actually said thanks which was surprising.
I always feel bad when people quit out for the other team.
@Silva: Same here. It really bugs me when people quit out, leaving some poor sap by himself.
April’s Pup and Friends was a good example of the kind of thing we like to do when someone gets stuck by himself. We’ll dance around with the guy, toss him the ball, let him score, have bonk wars, etc. Of course if they ask us to just score it, we’ll do that as well and get it over with.
We actually ran into the guy that’s in the Pup and Friends video during the last double XP. He totally remembered dancing around with us and stuff. I thought that was cool. Of course, I completely forgot to tell him that I included him in the highlight video. Next time I see him, I’m going to try and remember to do so.
But my mom DOES go to college…
Dude this article is crap. Im the Elite getting teabagged! LOOK!! you can see the smiley face :/ Well written Tex.
Thanks for all the responses people. It is much appreciated.
one more thing
it’s not necessary to be in a party unless you are having hostvoice difficulties
Grifball is a social game, talking to people you don’t know is an important part of being social
mute the dbags, chat up the rest
i pretty much say good game after every game. does this mean i’m classy?
Is that me getting teabagged!?!?!?
Looks like Wolf Am I to me, tbh.
don’t become like all those MLG douchebags
a “good game” goes a long way
