Forge Friday features fantastic fellows from our Forging Forum. Each week, we’ll feature a Grifball map and the master forger behind the creation. All Forge Friday features are selected from our Forging Forum, so feel free to submit your map here.
This week, Forge Friday features Red Ray Home Court.
One unique feature for a number of the American Grifball League of America is the opportunity for teams to have a home court. To insure no foul play, all home courts start from a template and must be approved by the A.G.L.A.’s resident master forger runNOKYARDrun. This week we feature the home court of long time A.G.L.A. team, and SL11 Amateur Champions, Red Ray.
When I started out making the map, I got some inspiration from Nokyards Grifball Palace from Halo 3. ~ Avianche812
Red Ray has the honor of being the second A.G.L.A. team to have their home court added to a matchmaking playlist. Back in Halo 3, Gaming so Hard had their court added to the Grifball playlist after they won the A.G.L.A. Winter League 09 Legacy Championship. And now, Red Ray has had their home court added after winning the 2011 Amateur Spring League Championship. Their home court was one of many courts added during the recent playlist update.
When you spawn, the left and right walls try to emulate the shape of runNOKYARDrun’s Grifball Palace on Sandbox from Halo 3. The interlocking arches are meant to look like the tunnel pieces available in Halo 3’s Forge, and the walls behind each bomb plant are meant to be in the shape of a ray. The checkerboard floor behind the glass wall adds a nice aesthetic touch as well.
