Before Halo Reach even launched, Bungie told us that they had created a special area in Forge World for Grifball. Although they knew that the creation of the official map and gametype should be left to the community who knew best, they took the time to create a special Foundry-like area for us that could serve as our first court.
When Reach was released last September, the very first thing Grifballers did was create a court in Bungie’s prepared box. That was the Coliseum.
Now that we have gone through two seasons of the GGL, two seasons of the AGLA, and three months of the Grifball playlist, we’ve seen many wonderful creations from the community that showcase what can be done on Forge World. Many forgers have succeeded in building a better Grifball court, with better lighting and more pleasing aesthetics. In light of this, it’s time for the GGL to walk forthrightly into the bright sunshine.
We’re pleased to introduce Sierra Vista, a new map by Nuclear Taco 42. Although in the GGL teams are allowed to play on any map they want (as long as both captains approve), this new map will be the default map to go along with the default gametype (GGL Dash 2011).
The court, built within sight of the peaks of Forge World, features a mountainous structure on each wall. The corners of the map are slightly concave, and each team’s spawn area is marked by a blue or red light. Best of all, the court is very, very bright.
As a reminder, signups for the next season of the GGL will begin on May 13th and run until May 20th. The season will begin the week of May 23rd. We will have more information very shortly.
In the meantime, get your teams together and have fun exploring everything Grifball has to offer!
See you on the court!
