Quite a while back Rooster Teeth held a little competition asking the community to submit their favorite grifball related screenshots. The best of the bunch were to be used in a premium Grifball XBOX360 dashboard theme. Sadly it seems that project has fizzled. I can’t remember the last time I heard any news related to it. I don’t know whether that theme will still be made and if so, when it will finally be released. If RT has stopped production on it, I’d be happy to fill in and pick up where they left off. Just sayin’.
Anywho, that brings me to the topic of this article. I’d been thinking about the premium grifball theme and wondering what happened to it and thought, “hey, why don’t I just create some wallpapers folks can use on their XBOX?” It’s not quite the same as a premium theme, but it’s something at least. So I popped open Photoshop and widdled away til I had five wallpapers. Seemed like a good number. Those five wallpapers are downloadable via the link that follows this article.
Setting up a custom wallpaper on your XBOX360 is really quite simple. There’s a couple things that are required. You will either need a USB flash drive that you can copy the wallpaper files to, or have your PC and XBOX networked together. I have my XBOX networked to my PC via my network using the Zune software. It can also be done using Windows Media Player or Media Center. I’m sure there are literally hundreds of articles available via Google to show you just how it’s done, so I’ll skip teaching you how.
The following short video shows you where you need to go on your XBOX to apply the grifball wallpapers to your dashboard. It should be pretty self explanatory as you watch it, but if you have any questions, feel free to leave them below in the comments.
Depending on if folks like these or not, I may consider creating more in the future. The screenshots used in these five wallpapers were ones I gathered from the Bungie community as well as our own Goosechecka, whose become quite addicted to making screenshots in Halo 3.
