So if you were to say this past Spring season’s amateur league playoffs were a mess, you’d probably be making an understatement. They truly were a mess, and then some. Some folks cheated, others were suspected of cheating, some were knocked out of the playoffs only to find themselves back in, while others removed themselves from the playoffs when they clearly deserved to be there. Crazy.

Emerging from the mangled, wreck of a playoff bracket and conquering the madness that was Spring League 2010 were Trippin’ Ballz. Perhaps one of what only seems like a handful of teams that weren’t accused to being douchebags in one fashion or another. For their miraculous efforts, I felt I needed to put something together for them as a salute to their accomplishment.

The video preceding this article is that salute.

I had the opportunity to neutral host the third and final game of the Amateur championship between Trippin’ Ballz and <3 Raifanbaugh. It was a fantastic game. Though the stats may have indicated otherwise, it was nothing short of a struggle. I watched as two teams with very different playing styles pushed and shoved for 50 minutes, trading the lead on several occasions until finally Trippin’ Ballz emerged as the champs. The final score was 5-4. This after <3 Raifanbaugh took a 4-3 lead and looked as though they were going to ride momentum and pull away with the win. Thanks to both teams for allowing me a front row seat. It was a lot of fun to watch.

Personally I think it’s a nice touch regardless of the reasons and something to consider doing each season for the championship teams.

Highlights for the Summer have not been released yet and I believe there’s still time if you haven’t already sent yours in for the first few weeks of the season. Check out the FAQ over on Grifball.com to learn about the highlight submission process. It’s simple and really shouldn’t take much time, as long as you’ve been saving your films and creating clips throughout the season.

Call me a little biased since there’s a couple highlights in here featuring two of my teammates, but this is probably my most favorite reel to date. These highlights were actually released after a Champions Reel had been created featuring Strictly Business, the Spring season Pro League champs.

I know what you’re thinking. With the exception of the highlights released last night which cover week three through playoffs of the Spring GBSL09 season, the rest of the highlights have been out for a while now.

So why did it take so long for the Hub to post them? I decided I wanted to wait until all the highlights had been released so that I could include them all at the same time. So this will be the first of three posts featuring highlights from the Spring 2009 season.

Apparently there were some mishaps along the way which delayed last season’s highlights. Things happen, and rarely does anything go exactly as planned. We should all be fortunate that we do get highlights each season, even if they do come a bit late.

The following reel is for weeks one and two of the Spring season.

A short while ago, the highlight reel for weeks one and two of the 2009 Winter league finally arrived. They were unfortunately not all that spectacular and featured very few highlights from legacy teams. This time around for week three we see more clips from legacy players. The plays on display are certainly better than those from the first two weeks, though still nothing laugh out loud funny or completely jaw dropping.

Commentary for week three is provided by I CITI I of Separate Intelligence. He does a fantastic job, however if you’re a little sensitive when it comes to more colorful language, you may wish to cover your ears.

After a very long wait, finally the highlights for weeks one and two of the Grifball Winter league have arrived. This highlight reel includes both the legacy and rookie leagues. Sadly, the majority of these clips aren’t all that impressive. If you’ve been playing grifball long enough, chances are you’ll find everything here pretty routine. The fault of course lies on the teams submitting highlights. If your highlight is not of epic proportions, perhaps you should pass on submitting it.

Week one and two highlights feature voice commentary by Adam Pisani, more commonly known as LBCountry on the Rooster Teeth forums. Adam plays for the legacy team Separate Intelligence.

A couple notes before you watch –
This is both parts 1 and 2 of the GBSML08 highlights. After watching part 1, you will need to click the forward button on the player interface to move on to part two of the highlight reel.

During part two we see a highlight featuring Zeg from Shut Your Lips and Learn. It was later learned that the guys from Rooster Teeth made a goof and the player in the highlight is actually Shadow s16
