The Bungie blog released its matchmaking updates list this evening and scheduled for January 18th is Grifball, qualified with a parenthezied “probably”.
The development of the playlist began back in September 2010, a few weeks after Halo: Reach’s release, and Hub staff has been working with members of the Grifball community to develop the game types and variants for the Grifball Matchmaking Playlist. The Hub selected maps from the community and submitted them to Bungie in November and it appears that all the hard work, dedication, and support of the Grifball fan-base is finally coming to fruition.
The maps submitted for consideration ranged from traditional to extravagant. However, in our last communication with Bungie developers, they told us that they were looking to keep things simple by introducing a limited and basic variety of Grifball maps and gametypes and will be incorporating new variants in future updates. As to what the final playlist will look like, we’re just as anxious to find out as everyone else.
You’ve asked for it, and Bungie is delivering it on January 18th (probably).
