As all of you probably know, BRB Steak was knocked out of the playoffs due to their captain Doc Status cheating by playing on PM Lemon’s account of They Hated It to help them beat The Good, The Bad, The Kirt (GBK). THI was trying to get into the playoffs and needed to beat GBK to make that possible. Doc Status helped them out out with the win, but THI still did not make the playoffs. Laggerz reported this cheating to Adam Pisani, although the motive and method of retrieval is questionable. According to the forum, Laggerz talked to Adam Pisani about the cheating and Pisani wanted proof. Laggerz got Lemon to admit it to him on the basis of friendship. It was claimed that Laggerz tried to blackmail his way onto They Hated It, but no proof was presented in the forums for this.

After Pisani got the proof he needed, he decided to remove BRB Steak from the playoffs even though the cheating was at the end of the season and the league was in the second week of playoffs and BRB Steak had already beat CUNT in the first round. Adam Pisani decided that instead of just handing down punishment to Doc Status, he would make the killing blow to cheaters by not limiting punishment just to the person, but also to the team they are affiliated with. This was of course a hard decision and obviously was going to put Adam Pisani in a negative light in a lot of the community’s eyes. But nonetheless he did it and he stated: “I’ve listened to the community. I happened to disagree with their opinion, and as I was the sole decider of the outcome the majority did not rule. I’m not looking to get re-elected, I’m doing what I believe is best for the league.”Source: Post# 4252 of the GBFL09 Pro League Thread.

Cheating obviously has been an issue since the inception of Grifball but little or nothing has been done to those that have cheated in the past due to commissioner indifference. As Adam is now the commissioner, he is putting his foot down to stop all cheating. With teams now accountable for their players’ actions, the idea is that cheaters will be more hesitant to perform the dirty deed of cheating. This also should make captains and players more likely to report any mischievous activity that they may have heard about.

At the beginning of FL09, BRB Steak was one of the front-runners to win the championship. All of their members are upset they had to watch a team they beat, CUNT, win the championship in their spot. When CUNT was added back into the playoffs, many members voiced their disdain for this move. Adam Pisani did not want to restart the playoffs sans BRB Steak due to time constraints. So instead he just switched CUNT for BRB Steak. Community members asked CUNT to decline the spot, but CUNT accepted and went on to beat Power Outage in 3(Total scores for each team: CUNT: 14, Power Outage: 13), then The Quickness in 2 (CUNT: 13, The Quickness: 5). After this win, some community members are screaming for an asterisk and are not even acknowledging CUNT as the champions. Some members of CUNT did not help themselves by responding to the drama with drama, just adding fuel to the flame.

On the other side, Twiz of The Quickness was ecstatic that he was going to win his next championship. It seemed from his general post in the forum that he had little to no respect for CUNT. On a few occasions he thanked BRB Steak for handing him the championship.

As it stands, it seems that this season’s playoffs were less than spectacular. With cheating, delays and radical personnel change, this season has been one of the zaniest. Look forward to next season being ran a lot smoother under the Pisani era.
