An interview with the Commish

Gamertag(s):
PP MooCow PP, The MooCow (The rest are secret)

Name:
MooCow, The Cow, Caleb

Hobbies outside of Grifball:
Ultimate Frisbee, hands down the best sport ever! Aside from that I usually work or go to school. I also like cookies, but not sure if that counts as a [hobby].

Why did you take the position of Commissioner?
Not really sure what made me originally take the post. I had extra time when offered and thought it would be fun considering how much I enjoy playing the game. I also liked the guy I was sharing the job with.

Have you enjoyed it?
All things considered, yes. There were times when I felt like banning everyone and breaking the site, but who doesn’t have thoughts of destroying the things they love?

What is something you would have changed about this season?
One thing? Can’t do it. There are a few things I would. Here is a brief list:

  • Been more upfront with Playoff plans/other rules (had them planned, didn’t make them clear)
  • Announced council at beginning of season
  • Adjusted the legacy team status rule (something along those lines, but not as extreme)
  • Have Adam (LBCountry) do highlights from the start
  • Have teams to cover each area I need help in

There are lots more, but all these things are something I can work on if I remain as Commish.

Who has helped you the most this season?
I honestly can’t name one person, I have been helped in so many areas and I am grateful for all of it. There are too many people here to name.

What do you enjoy most about Grifball?
The community, even the ones I have to ban on a regular basis. I really enjoy gaming with everyone here and grifball would be nothing without the community.

What do you enjoy least?
The community, I may <3 everyone but sometimes I would feel the community didn't understand things I was saying or some people would take what I had to do personally. I just wish more people understood the difference between Commish MooCow and MooCow.

What sensitivity do you play on in Grifball?
10

What button configuration do you use?
Boxer

What has annoyed you the most about this season?
The time I came back from vacation to find PxR (PhoenixRage) was gone and had been gone for a week. At that time I had a lot of catching up to do, but none of the passwords to do it. It was frustrating at first, but it worked out in the end and PxR has some serious reasons to be gone. Everyone should take time and pray for him and his family.

Why do you think the community has such a negative outlook on your job thus far?
Most of it is my fault for falling behind and not being clear with some things from the start., but there are times when members of the community cause problems for no apparent reason. When I took this job I knew it would be thankless and after running this league and seeing how the community treats its leader I understand why no commish stays for more than a season.

How supportive has the Rooster Teeth staff been?
They have been very supportive in the fact they let us use their site and I am forever grateful. They may not be hands on with grifball, but without them grifball would never have started. They may not get everything done that we could use, but they are doing more than enough and a little more to be announced later.

What one secret do you wish to share about this season?
If I share it, it wouldn’t be a secret. There really isn’t anything that the community doesn’t know at this point and what they don’t know, it’s not my secret to tell. Although I guess I could technically let you all know what the prize is for this season, but where is the fun in that? (yes, there is a prize)

Who do you think the top team is in Grifball?
The one that wins. It is a tough call this season as there are some great teams. I’m gonna predict Veto This will win it d00d.

How did Team USA stay in rookie league, and what led to this?
That was a glitch, they and a couple of other teams slid by our censors. Had I known they would have been in legacy.

Who would you like to see as the next commissioner?
That is personal. I honestly hope to see myself there again, but no promises at this point.

What would you like to say to the Grifball community?
Look, who ever is running the league next season, be nice. Running grifball is like having a full time job where you don’t get paid and everyone you work with hates you. No matter who is in charge will make mistakes and always do their best. If you have a problem with them or something they are doing, bring it up to that person (or council) and get the facts. Too often this season small things were blown out of proportion because people didn’t come straight to me to get the problem resolved.

Have you found it hard to balance the time between your commissioner duties and you obligations outside of Grifball?
At times, I had to pick up a second job recently which consumes a lot of my time. There was also the fact my work load doubles when PxR left. I made up for this in 2 ways, I made the council public so they could handle things while I worked and I sleep 4-6 hours a night. (Yay for typing interviews at 2am ;P). I feel in the end I get the job done but none of it would be possible without the council and the community.

Do you think the Elite league has a chance to work out for next season?
If I am commish next season and everything goes to plan, I will have something like an Elite League (no inter division play) that will be a lot more competitive. No promises though as there are quite a few changes coming that I don’t even know about.

What one tip would you like to give to all the new Grifball players out there?
Find a legacy team and have them adopt you. the best way to learn is to get your ass handed to you by the best. Playing with the experienced league members will really help you learn all of the crazy techniques and other things only experience can teach you.

If you had it all over to do again, would you accept the commissioner role?
Hell ya!

Whats your favorite website outside of RoosterTeeth.com?
Achievement Hunter. I guess I use Yahoo and Gmail as well as facebook. Does my Online Homework website count?

What would you say your motto is?
I <3 Potatoes

Not bad. Not bad at all. From all the talk, I got the impression that PP was a douchbag who had better things to do then be a decent commish, but Props to you dude. I understand that it would be a shit job, but props to sticking with it.
