The Amateur Spotlight is an article done by BobbyBirdseed, where he asks Amateur teams just some general questions about themselves, and how they feel about various other topics relating to Grifball and whatever else he feels like asking.

1. What brought you guys to Grifball?

Bloodlust. And our mutual inability to use battle rifles.

2. How did you come up with your team name?

I was bored at work one day and came up with like 20 team names. This wasn’t my favorite, but came out on top when the team voted at the beginning of our second season.

3. What do you think your biggest asset as a team is?

We have a dedicated core of players who all started at the same time, and we’ve played together for so long that we barely have to communicate during the game. We’ve also added new talent that complements our playing style.

4. What is your main goal for the season?

After coming so close last season, we are going to prove that we belong in the pro league.

5. What do you think your most difficult challenge will be this season?

Scheduling. Since we came into the amateur league at the last minute, we didn’t have the best options available to us. Fortunately, the other captains in our division have been accommodating so far.

6. How do you feel about the main map being the GrifCave this season?

C’est la vie. As long as Nokyard keeps tweaking it, as he did the Foundry map, eventually it will be accepted as the gold standard by the community. Getting rid of the asymmetry caused by the truck was definitely an improvement.

7. If you had to give any advice to a newer rookie team, what would you tell them?

Get an experienced team or individual players to mentor you. We had the advantage of being recruited and trained by Team Frozen Over in our first season, and it helped us succeed tremendously. They also introduced us to other players in the community, so we were able to join in pickup games earlier than most new amateurs. Also, read GrifballHub.com articles religiously.
