Amateur Playoffs Analysis: Mighty Region
The Mighty Ducks vs. Slicin n Dicin
Ok, umm yeah this will be both short and probably a complete failure but I will do my best to say something about Mighty Ducks because I’ve actually played in a custom game with got3nks. Although one player doesn’t represent a team I like where this dude’s head is at.
From what I’ve seen in a couple of custom games, although it was against pros who are way better, he has a lot of determination and a willingness to get better. That’s the kind of thing you need in any captain. There are some captains who don’t show the willingness to get better and just go about their business, but got3nks is different. I’m sure there are plenty of amateur players who know this player and their team much better than I do, but that’s at least what I’ve observed from him.
I’m not saying they’re going to turn heads, but maybe they’ll turn some heads I don’t know. There’s something about got3nks that makes me think he will have this team somewhere near the top of amateur in a few seasons. When it happens, remember where you read it first.
So some guys from HaloCharts decide to make a team and what do ya know? They’re not half bad. This team had a huge advantage over most teams starting out, having been taught by NHALING2XHALE throughout their GGL season. I think any knowledge they may have gained from his guidance will help them tremendously in the playoffs now, and their games in the future going forward as well.
I’ve played some customs here or there with some of their players being in the game, a lot of matchmaking, and some rushes as well. I really like how HC Shocky is progressing thus far as a tank From what I‘ve seen, he is their number one. I really hope I’m not wrong about that, but hey, I’ve been impressed. I’m pretty sure HC Jules tanks as well, and I’d expect him to do just fine alongside Shocky. So with that being said, I think with the unpredictability of Mighty Ducks (for me at least), these two will just need to have a solid game in order to get the win.
Outcome: Slicin n Dicin over The Mighty Ducks 7-2
Breakout Players: HC Shocky, II Got3nks II
Green Army vs. Deadly if Eaten
Alright so it’s it’s all come down to this. The game most likely to screw up everyone’s pick em. Yup. I remember when Reach first came out and the guys on this team were so dominant I honestly thought they were going to be competing in Pro. Well guess what, they’re still pretty damn good except they’re in amateur.
Green Team Tex when Reach came out, was and in my opinion still is a pretty solid player. He along with H20 Camper would be very solid role players, possibly starters in Pro Vanilla but let’s see if they can get past Deadly if Eaten first. I can honestly say I don’t think I’ve played any custom games in SL11 with anyone on this team, but I’ve run into most of them in matchmaking quite a few times and they still impress.
I honestly don’t know whether H20 Camper runs or tanks, but given his preference to vanilla I feel he needs to be tanking in this game alongside Green Team Tex. Unless that Nanadel character still plays. That dude was an absolute monster tank last I saw and if he’s still playing and is good then I’d say Camper is safe to run. With the late addition of Yeag3r to Deadly if Eaten, this game will be a lot more difficult than this team is expecting. Best case scenario for Green Army would be to have Green Team Tex, H20 Camper, and Nanadel all in the game. Of course if Nanadel is gone I believe it was either GreenHorn or Honcho who as also an adequate tank but I always get those two mixed up. I’m leaning towards Honcho but I’ll leave it at I don’t know.
So Kev comes out of the woodwork to play his games in makeup week I think? I don’t know, but either way their additions of Elementary (who was already there) and Yeag3r (who I don’t think was in regular season) will prove extremely beneficial to this team’s game plan. I’ve seen it first hand that as long as Yeag3r isn’t lagging he can be a very good tank. If he’s lagging, well then it’s pretty much a toss up as to what he’ll be able to do. CloakingVEGETA has always been a reliable runner and has progressed well with his tanking to become a better Hybrid in the Vanilla gametype.
The game changer however, will come in the form of Elementary. Sort of an afterthought in Halo 3, this kid continues to impress me with his ability in custom games every time I play against him. He’s gotten A LOT better this season and I’m not sure if Green Army expects that from him or not. I’m pretty sure Kev is still good, and if Elementary is giving the other team problems, it just makes Kev’s job easier. My only advice to Deadly if Eaten, is if they can make it happen, would be sub out Foshoshon for Yeag3r. Unless the chemistry is too good, I say make the switch.
Outcome: Deadly if Eaten over Green Army 6-3
Breakout Players: Elementary, Green Team Tex? (I don’t know who can break out considering they’ve all been playing a long time, but I still think maybe he proves this game that he can still play, and play well)
PS: Holy cow that was painful to write, I didn’t know much at all about this region. Expect the highly anticipated Red Ray vs. Grifted analysis tomorrow, and thank you to all who have contributed to the Red Region as mentioned in the last analysis. 2 people. (>_<)
